It is interesting to note out of these six three figure stands for the eighth wicket, three of them have come at Leeds.

RT Ponitng held three catches in this test {one in the first innings and two in the second innings} to take his aggregate of test catches to 156. He is now on par with AR Border who also has an aggregate of 156 catches. Only MA Taylor {157} and ME Waugh {181} are ahead of RT Ponting in terms of aggregate catches amongst the Australian fielders.

MG Johnson returned with figures of 19.3-3-69-5 in the second innings which represent the third occasion of his capturing five or more wickets in an innings in his test career. The other two occasions are – 24.0-4-61-8 in first innings against South Africa at Perth in Dec 2008 and 17.3-6-39-5 in second innings at Brisbane in Nov 2008.

MG Johnson’s 5 for 69 represent the 23rd occasion of an Australian bowler capturing five or more wickets against England in a Leeds test.

SCJ Broad’s 6 for 91 in this test was in a losing cause providing the 31st occasion of England bowlers six plus wickets against Australia going in vain.
