Second Semi Finals : Air India Blue edge Tata SC in second semi finals at Mohali and make it an all Air India affair in Finals
Thanks to a forceful hundred by wicket keeper opening batsman C Madan who scored 114 runs, Harbhajan Singh lead Air India Blue made it to the finals of first BCCI Inter Corporate Tournament. Air India Blue beat Tata SC by five wickets under VJ Method at Mohali in the second semi finals at Mohali on 06.09.09.
Put into bat, Tata SC amassed 267 for 9 in 50 overs, thanks to the useful contributions from IR Jaggi {52}, NS Shetty {63} and skipper AB Agarkar {56}. Tata SC’s innings was built around by two useful stands of 50 plus runs partnerships – 80 runs stand for the third wicket between IR Jaggi and NS Shetty and 68 runs stand for the seventh wicket between AB Agarkar and WA Mota. RP Singh {3 for 57} and Pankaj Singh {4 for 41} were the successful bowlers for Air India Blue. Tata SC had lost its six wickets for 164 runs on the board. Skipper AB Agarkar useful contribution of 56 and his stand of 68 runs for the seventh wicket in the company of WA Mota, a cameo knock of 24 runs in just nine balls by wicket keeper batsman SM Sheikh, ensured Tata SC reach a modest total of 267 all out 49.4 overs.
MS Bisla and C Madan laid the foundation with an opening stand of 71 runs which was followed by a three figure stand of 142 runs between C Madan and M Kaif for the second wicket, ensured Air India Blue a facile win by five wickets. C Madan’s 114 came in 129 deliveries and contained 13 boundary four and a six. He was at the crease for 168 minutes. M Kaif’s 52 contained seven fours. The duo added 142 runs in 23.5 overs. RR Powar bagged two for 56 for Tata SC
With Air India Blue winning this semi finals, finals will be an all Air India affair. Air India Red and Air India Blue will clash in the finals slated for 08.09.09 at Bangalore
