BCCI Inter Corporate Tournament – Air India Red lift the Trophy

Finals : Air India Red vs Air India Blue at Bangalore on 08.09.09 : Air India Red won by 93 runs

It was all the way for Robin Uthappa for Air India Blue. He scored 157 not out, the highest individual score in the first ever BCCI Inter Corporate Tournament in the finals against Air India Blue at Bangalore on 08.09.09. His essay contained eleven boundary fours and six boundary sixes and he occupied the crease for 214 minutes and faced 148 deliveries. He forged two successive fifty plus runs stands – 79 runs for the second wicket with SH Marathe and 57 runs for the third wicket with his skipper Yuvraj Singh. SH Marathe {36} and SK Raina {28} were the other contributors to the Air India Blue’s total of 284 for 8 in 50.0 overs. For Air India Blue, skipper Harbhajan Singh accounted for four wickets conceding 55 runs.

Air India Blue were dismissed for 191 runs. Batsman in form – C Madan shone amidst ruins as he scored 85 runs. Barring M Kaif who scored 32 runs, none of the Air India Blue batsmen got going. MS Dhoni was dismissed for a duck – a first ball duck – caught and bowled by Yuvraj Singh. C Madan and M Kaif were concerned in a 74 runs stand for the second wicket. Wickets tumbled regularly and C Madan was watching them falling from the other end. He was the ninth batsman dismissed at the score of 191 and the next wicket also fell at the same score leaving Air India Red victors by 97 runs. Skipper Yuvraj Singh and AA Chavan were the pick of the bowlers for Air India Red as they bagged three wickets each conceding 30 and 29 runs respectively.
