Bangalore Provident Rural are the winners of Namma Mantri – Karntaka Premier League Cup

Bangalore Provident Rural defeated Belgavi Panthers by five wickets with four balls remaining to lift the first Namma Mantri – Karnataka Premier League Cup at Mangalam Chinnaswamy Stadium under flood lights on Wednesday, the 23rd September 09.

Winning the toss, Belgavi Panthers scored a none too comfortable 122 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Their top order – skipper Arun Kumar, Manish Pandey and KS Ponnappa – failed to contribute substantially. Their pace bowler R Vinay Kumar who opened the batting in this game scored 34. Wicket keeper batsman BMV Uthappa who did nothing good in the earlier matches, chose the finals for his contribution with the willow. He was the top scorer for his team with 45 runs.

Provident Bangalore started comfortably with their reliable openers – MK Manjunath {23} and Thilak Naidu {33} adding 48 runs for the first wicket . SK Jain scored 28 not out to see his side through. Provident Bangalore Rural won the game by five wickets with four balls to spare. R Vinay Kumar shone with the willow too by capturing two wickets.

This game was a low scoring game and as such there were no half centuries by batsmen from either side, no three wicket hauls from bowlers from either side and there were no fifty plus runs partnerships in the match.

Summarised Scores : Belgavi Panthers {122 for 7 in 20.0 overs} lost by five wickets to Provident Bangalore Rural {125 for 5 in 19.2 overs}

Amit Verma was declared Man of the Match in the finals, while J Arun Kumar, the skipper of Belgavi Panthers was declared Man of the Tournament for his consistent performance with the willow
