Approaching milestones ahead of India-Australia One day Series – Part One

Approaching milestones ahead of India-Australia One day Series – Part One

Crickick.com brings to its viwers an exclusice article “Part one of the approaching milestones ahead of the India-Australia one day series” scheduled to start from 25th October 2009

RT Ponting would be playing his 50th one day game against India when he appears in the first one day game of the series. He would become the second Australian cricketer to play 50 plus one day games against India after SR Waugh who has played 53 one day games.

RT Ponting would be playing his 50th one day innings against India when he bats in the first one day game of the series. He would become the first Australian batsman to play 50 innings against India.

R Dravid has an aggregate of 928 runs against Australia prior to the start of the series and requires 72 more runs for 1000 run aggregate against Australia. If he gets there he would become the second Indian batsman to aggregate 1000 runs against Australia. SR Tendulkar is the other batsman to have an aggregate of 2730 runs prior to the start of the series.

SR Tendulkar who has an aggregate of 289 boundary fours against Australia requires eleven more boundary fours for an aggregate of 300 boundary fours.

If SR Tendulkar gets 300 boundary fours against Australia, he would become the second batsman in the world to score 300 boundary fours against a specific opposition. ST Jayasuriya has to his credit 322 boundary fours against India

SR Tendulkar prior to the start of the series has an aggregate of 2730 runs against Australia. He requires 20 more runs to go past his aggregate of 2749 runs against Sri Lanka which is the highest aggregate he has as of today against a specific opponent.

SR Tendulkar prior to the start of the series has an aggregate of 2730 runs against Australia. He requires 119 more runs to go past ST Jayasuriya’s aggregate of 2848 runs against India which is now the highest aggregate by a batsman against a specific opponent. SR Tendulkar’s 2849 would then constitute a world record aggregate of runs by a batsman against a specific opposition.

As on date SR Tendulkar remains the only batsman to have scored eight hundreds against Australia and Sri Lanka. One more hundred by him in the ensuing series against Australia would give him nine hundreds against Australia and with it a world record of most hundreds against a specific opposition.

RT Ponting has scored five hundreds against India prior to the start of this series. One more hundred by him would give him six hundreds against India. RT Ponting would then become the only Australian batsman to register six hundreds against two specific oppositions – New Zealand and India.

Prior to the start of this series AC Gilchrist {six hundreds against Sri Lanka} and RT Ponting {six hundreds against New Zealand} were the only two batsmen who had scored six hundreds against a specific opposition. One more hundred by RT Ponting against India in the ensuing series would give Australia the third occasion of its batsmen scoring six hundreds against a specific opposition.

Prior to the start of the series, SR Tendulkar has 22 fifties against Australia. One more fifty in the ensuing series would give him 23 fifties against Australia and put him on par with IVA Richards of West Indies who also has 23 fifties against Australia.

IVA Richards 23 fifites against Australia} and SR Tendulkar {23 fifties against Sri Lanka} share the record for most fifties against a specific opposition. One more fifty for SR Tendulkar against Australia, would then provide the third occasion of a batsman scoring 23 fifties against a specific opposition.

One more fifty against Australia would give SR Tendulkar 23 fifties against Australia and with it a world record of scoring 23 fifties against two specific oppositions – against Sri Lanka and Australia.

Two more fifties for SR Tendulkar would give him 24 fifties against Australia and with it an all time world record of 24 fifties against a specific opposition

Prior to the start of this series, RT Ponting has 98 fifties to his credit. Two more fifties by him would give him 100 fifties and with it a record of becoming the second batsman in the world to score 100 plus fifties. SR Tendulkar has 135 fifties prior to the start of the series.

Prior to the start of the series. RT Ponting has played 324 one day games. His appearance in the first one day game of the series would give him 325 one day appearances which would put him on par with SR Waugh who also has 325 appearances. {RT Ponting’s 324 appearances prior to the start of the game include one appearance for ICC Eleven}

RT Ponitng’s appearance in second one day game of the series would give him 326 appearances which would make him the most capped Australian cricketer in one day games.

Australia has named J Holland as the uncapped cricketer in its squad. If he makes his one day debut in the ensuring series he would become the 179th cricketer to represent Australia in one day games.

India has named Sudeep Tyagi as the uncapped cricketer in its squad. If he makes his one day debut in the ensuring series he would become the 179th cricketer to represent India in one day games.

By a strange statistical coincidence both Australia and India have capped the same number of cricketers in one day games – 178 – prior to the start of the series
