In India’s innings against South Africa at Chennai in Mar 2008, for the first wicket there was a 213 runs partnership between Wasim Jaffer and V Sehwag. For the second wicket there was another 200 plus run partnership – 268 runs stand between V Sehwag and R Dravid.

This feat was repeated again by Indian batsmen at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai against Sri Lanka in the third test of 2009-10 test series.

V Sehwag registered his sixth double hundred as an opening batsman which puts him on par with MS Atapattu who also has scored six double hundreds as an opening batsman
R Dravid with his 62 not out in this test now has most fifties by an Indian batsman on home soil. His 62 not out represents his 24th fifty on home soil and he wrested the record from SR Tendulkar and SM Gavaskar who have 23 home fifties to their credit.
At the end of the second day’s play R Dravid has an aggregate of 8843 runs while batting at number three. Only RT Ponting with 8895 runs to his credit has more runs than R Dravid while batting at number three. R Dravid is 42 runs shy of RT Ponting.
V Sehwag with his 284 not out in this test has now most scores of 150 plus runs by an opening batsman in the annals of test cricket. He wrested the record from SM Gavaskar who had eleven scores of 150 plus runs as an opening batsman
