MS Dhoni effected five dismissals {03 ct plus 02 ct} in Bangladesh’s first innings providing the 154th occasion of a wicket keeper effecting five or more dismissals in an innings in the annals of test cricket.

MS Dhoni became the sixth wicket keeper in the annals of test cricket to effect two or more stumpings when a wicket keeper has effected five dismissals in a test innings. Others are KS More of India – five dismissals {all five stumpings}, WAS Oldfieled of Australia – five dismissals {01 ct plus 04 st}, GRA Langley of Australia – five dismissals {02 ct plus 03 st}, BK Kunderan of India – five dismissals {03 ct plus 02 st and JM Parks of England – five dismissals {03 ct plus 02 st}

MS Dhoni effected five dismissals {03 ct plus 02 ct} in Bangladesh’s first innings providing the third occasion of his effecting five or more dismissals in a test innings. The other two occasions are – against New Zealand at Wellington in Apr 09 {six dismissals – all caught} and against Australia at Perth in Jan 08 {five dismissals – all caught}.

At the end of the first innings in this test, MS Dhoni has an aggregate of 125 dismissals {105 caught and 20 stumped}.

MS Dhoni’s five dismissals in the first innings of this test provide the ninth occasion of an Indian wicket keeper effective five or more dismissals in a test innings

MS Dhoni becomes the first Indian wicket keeper to effect five or more dismissals on three occasions. SMH Kirmani and NR Mongia have effected five or more dismissals on two occasions.

At the end of Bangladesh first innings, Dhoni has effected 20 stumpings in his test career which makes him the 20th wicket keeper in the annals of test cricket to effect 20 or more stumping dismissals. All the 20 occasions are listed below

MS Dhoni became the third Indian wicket keeper to effect 20 or more stumping dismissals after SMH Kirmani {38} and KS More {20}

MS Dhoni’s five dismissals in the first innings of this test provide the eleventh occasion of a captain-cum-wicket keeper effecting five or more dismissals in a test innings. It was the second occasion for MS Dhoni to achieve this distinction. He had effected six dismissals {all caught} against New Zealand at Wellington in Apr 09.

Out of these eleven occasions in which a captain-cum-wicket keeper have effected five or more dismissals, all the nine occasions are all caught dismissals while only two have stumping dismissals – Imtiaz Ahmed {01} and MS Dhoni {02}.

MS Dhoni became the third captain-cum-wicket keeper to effect five or more dismissals in a test innings on two occasions. Others are AJ Stewart of England and AC Gilchrist of Australia.

With five dismissals to his credit in this innings, MS Dhoni has effected 42 dismissals {36 ct plus 06 st} as captain-cum-wicket keeper. He became the fourth wicket keeper in the annals of test cricket to effect 40 plus dismissals as captain-cum-wicket keeper. Others are – FCM Alexander of West Indies – 70 dismissals {65 ct plus 05 st}, A Flower of Zimbabwe – 56 dismissals {all caught} and AJ Stewart – 48 dismissals {47 ct plus 01 st}.

MS Dhoni’s six stumping dismissals as captain-cum- wicket keeper places him second in the list of those captain-cum-wicket keepers who have effected five or more stumping dismissals. PM Sherwell of South Africa has effected 16 stumping dismissals, while FCM Alexander of West Indies and HB Cameron of South Africa have effected five stumping dismissals each.

Mohammad Ashraful was playing his 100th test innings in this test. He made 39 in his 100th test innings.

Mohammad Ashraful became the first Bangladesh batsmen to play 100 test innings {52 tests}. The previous record was held by Habibul Bashar who had played 99 test innings {50 tests}

R Dravid at the end of Bangladesh first innings extended his total tally of catches to 193 – 101 on away soil and 92 on home soil.

R Dravid became the first fieldsman in the annals of test cricket to pouch 100 catches on away soil. His 100th victim was Raquibul Hasan of Ishant Sharma for 4. At the end of the first innings, Dravid had an aggregate of 101 catches.

Mahmudullah scored 96 not out in Bangladesh’s first innings providing the sixth occasion of Bangladesh batsman registering a ninety in a test innings. Others are – Habibul Basahr – 97 vs Pakistan at Peshawar in Aug 03, Mohammad Ashraful – 98 vs Zimbabwe at Harare in Feb 2004, Habibul Bashar – 94 vs Zimbabwe at Chittagong in Jan 2005, Shakib Al Hasan – 96 vs Sri Lanka at Dhaka in Dec 2008, Shakib Al Hasan – 96* vs West Indies at St George’s in Jul 2009.

Mahmudullah scored 96 not out in Bangladesh’s first innings providing the first occasion of Bangladesh batsman registering a ninety in a test innings against India.

Mahmudullah with his 96 not out in the first innings of this test became the second Bangladesh batsman to register ninety in the first innings of a test match, the other being Habibul Basahr who had scored 97 vs Pakistan at Peshawar in Aug 03 and 94 vs Zimbabwe at Chittagong in Jan 2005. Thus Mahmudullah’s 96 not out represent the third occasion of Bangladesh batsman registering ninety in the first innings of a test match.
