Australia won this game by 116 runs providing the fourth occasion of Australia winning a game against West Indies by a margin of 100 plus runs after being inserted by the opposition. The other three occasions are – by 134 runs at Sydney in Feb 2002, by 121 runs at Adelaide on 17.12.1995 and by 103 runs at North Sound on 27.03.07

It was Australia’s 60th win against West Indies in 121 encounters between the two teams.

RT Ponting completed 7500 runs when he was on 47 during his knock of 49 as captain batting at number three. At the end of this game his aggregate stood at 7502. He is the only captain batting at number three in the history of one day games to aggregate 7500 runs in one day games.

RT Ponting completed 2500 runs in Australia’s winning matches as captain in the matches played in Australia. It was his 58th win as captain in Australia. He reached the milestone when he was on 39 during the course of his knock of 49 in this game. At the end of this game, his aggregate stood at 2515.
