Harbhajan Singh with his three five wicket hauls in an innings against South Africa became the third Indian bowler to capture five plus wickets on three or more occasions. Other three are – J Srinath {04}, A Kumble {03} and BKV Prasad {03}

Only A Kumble with 35 five wicket hauls is ahead of Harbhajan Singh at the end of this test. A Kumble, Harbhajan Singh and N Kapil Dev are the only three Indian bowler to capture five or more wickets on 20 plus occasions

India won this test by an innings and 58 runs providing the 28th occasion of India winning a test by an innings margin and the first such occasion against South Africa. It is India’s second innings win at Eden Gardnes, Kolkata. The first occasion was against Australia in Mar 1998 when India has won by an innings and 219 runs.

HM Amla scored three hundreds in this two test series against India – 253* at Nagpur and 114 and 123* at Kolkata – providing the fourth occasion of a batsman scoring three hundreds in a two test series. The other three occasions are – PA de Silva of Sri Lanka vs Pakistan in Pakistan in 1996-97, PA de Silva of Sri Lanka vs India in Sri Lanka in 1997 and JH Kallis of South Africa in Pakistan in 2007-08
