Asia Cup 2010 : Highest run getter in Asia Cup – ST Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka – will not play in this edition

ST Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka who holds the record of most aggregate runs in Asia Cup games will miss the ensuing edition of Asia Cup 2010 scheduled to start from today in Sri Lanka

ST Jayasuriya has scored 1220 runs from 25 games and 24 innings of which he was once not out. His highest score of 130 and has an average of 53.04 runs per innings. He has scored six centuries and three half centuries. He was dismissed for zero only one in his 25 innings. He is the only batsman to total 1000 runs in Asia Cup and his six centuries and nine fifties are records for most hundreds and most fifties scored by a batsman in Asia Cup

PA de Silva, the new Chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket Board, has said that the Sanath Jayasuriya, prolific scorer was left out of the squad due to his poor run of scores in recent games.
