Match No 10: Bijapur Bulls vs Belgavi Panthers at Bangalore on 20.09.10: Belgavi Panthers won by seven wickets

Put into bat Bijapur Bulls scored a none-too-impressive total of 131 for the loss of seven wickets in its 20 overs. They lost the openers fairly early in their innings {G Dhiman for a duck and MR Beerala for 11} and the score board read 2 for 26. Two run outs – JP Shinde for 12 and skipper SP Shinde for 12 – saw them reeling at 4 for 50. An useful partnership of 43 runs for the fifth wicket between DT Patil and N Mulky was the substance of Bijapur Bulls’ innings. DT Patil left at 93 {fifth wicket} and N Mulky departed at 116 {seventh wicker. 15 runs were added for the unfinished eight wicket and Bulls reached 131 for 7,

J Shetty {21 of 19 balls with three fours}, DT Patil {22 of 22 balls with 3 fours} and N Mulky {28 of 23 balls with two fours} contributed to Bull’s total.

Good fielding display on the field ensured that Bulls did not score freely as they wanted. Two run outs added to their misery. B Naveen returned with figures of 2 for 28.

J Arunkumar and KS Ponnappa made mincemeat of Bulls’ bowling by posting the first three figure partnership in this edition when they added 112 runs for the first wicket. This is a record stand for any wicket in KPL second edition. The previous best was 93 run stand between MK Manjunath and VST Naidu of Panthers vs Brigadiers on 19.09.10

J Arunkumar missed the fifty by one run scoring 49. He stayed at the crease for 62 minutes and faced 47 deliveries. His essay contained 4 four and 3 sixes. KS Ponnappa – aggressive of the two – scored 60 runs. He occupied the crease for 75 minutes and hit eight fours and two sixes. N Mulky returned with figures of 2 for 27
