First Test : India vs Australia at Mohali – Oct 2010 : First day’s highlights
Australia won the toss in this test and batted first providing the 34th occasion of Australia doing so in India-Australia test series. It also provides the 20th such occasions in tests played in India.

RT Ponting has led Australia in ten or more tests against three specific oppositions – vs Eng {15}, vs Ind {10} and vs SAF {12}. He earned the distinction of becoming the sixth captain in the annals of test cricket to lead a country against three or more specific oppositions. Others are – AR Border of Aus {04}, CH Lloyd of Win {04}, GC Smith of SAF {04}, SP Fleming of NZl {03} and MAK Pataudi of India {03}
SR Tendulkar had played 29 tests against Australia prior to the start of the series. Mohali test is his 30th test against Australia. He became the third Indian batsman to play 30 plus tests against specific opposition. Others are – SM Gavaskar – 38 tests against England and GR Viswanath – 30 tests against England.
SR Tendulkar became the first Indian cricketer to play 30 tests against Australia. He is the 23rd Cricketer to play 30 or more tests against Australia. The break up of 22 cricketers read thus – 18 England cricketers and 04 West Indian cricketers.

He went past N Kapil Dev’s 79 test wickets aggregate against Australia and occupies the second place amongst the Indian bowlers who have captured most wickets against Australia. R Dravid extended his catches aggregate to 197 when he caught MJ Clarke of Harbjhajan Singh for 14 in this test. It was his 46th catch against Australia. It was his 31st catch against Australia on home soil, Only GS Chappell of Australia has pouched more catches against a specific opposition {38 vs England} on home soil. Thus R Dravid with his 31 catches against Australia at home occupies the second place amongst fieldsmen who have taken most catches at home. R Dravid went past WG Grace’s {of England} 30 catches against Australia at home. GS Chappell {38}, R Dravid {31} and WG Grace {30} are the three fieldsmen in the annals of test cricket to pouch 30 plus more catches against a specific opposition at home.
R Dravid-Harbhajan Singh {fieldsman/bowler combination} has accounted for 48 batsmen so far in tests including that of MJ Clarke in this test.
