VVS Laxman completed 7500 test runs when he was on 10 during his knock of 40 in this test. At the end of India’s first innings, his aggregate stood at 7530

DL Vettori bowled 50 plus overs in this innings as captain. This is the fifth occasion he has bowled 50 plus overs in an innings as captain – 56.0-17-88-2 vs England at Hamilton in Mar 2008, 59.4-20-21-124-2 vs Australia at Adelaide in Nov 2008, 52.0-21-91-2 vs West Indies at Napier in Dec 2008, 56.0-25-12-93-2 vs Pakistan at Napier in Dec 2009 and 54.5-12-118-4 vs India at Ahmedabad in Nov 2010

DL Vettori became the second captain in the annals of test cricket to bowl 50 plus over five occasions, after R Benaud of Australia.

DL Vettori took his 100^th wicket as captain-left arm spin bowler when he had Harbhajan Singh caught by Hopkins for 69. He is the second bowler to earn this distinction in the annals of test cricket. BS Bedi with 106 wickets to his credit is the other captain to capture 100 plus wickets a captain-cum-left arm spinner.

DL Vettori has bowled 50 plus overs in an innings on 17 occasions as a bowler. He is now third in the list of bowlers who have bowled most occasions of 50 overs in an innings. M Muralitharan {31} and LR Gibbs {19} are the other bowlers who have bowled 50 plus overs in an innings on more occasions than DL Vettori.

JS Patel and DL Vettori conceded 100 plus runs in this innings to provide the 24^th and 25^th occasion of New Zealand bowlers conceding 100 plus runs against India.

Harbhajan Singh’s 69 in this innings provide his eighth half century of his career. His knock represents his highest individual score in tests, an improvement over his previous best of 66 against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo in Jan 2001.

DL Vettori became the third captain-cum-spinner to capture 100 plus wickets in the annals of test cricket – R Benaud {138} :BS Bedi {106} and DL Vettori {100}. ,

DL Vettori bowled 54.5 overs in this innings to provide the 29^th occasion of a captain bowling fifty overs in an innings.

TG McIntosh was dismissed for duck by Zaheer Khan in this test providing the 33^rd occasion of a batsman dismissed for duck by Zaheer Khan. It also provides the third occasion of a New Zealand batsman dismissed for duck by Zaheer Khan. The other two occasions are – DR Flynn caught MS Dhoni for zero at Hamilton in Mar 2009 and TG McIntosh caught by SR Tendulkar at Hamilton in Mar 2009
