New Zealand were all out for 193 in the first innings providing the 20th occasion of New Zealand dismissed all out for less than 200 runs in an innings against India. It provides the fifth occasion of New Zealand dismissed for a total of less than 200 runs when it has batted in the first innings of a test match. The other four occasions are – 186 at Wellington in Feb 1968 : 181 at Hyd-LBS in Oct 1969 : 187 at Hamilton in Mar 1994 and 145 at Bangalore in Oct 1995

G Gambhir {78}, V Sehwag {74}, R Dravid {69*} and SR Tendulkar {57*} scored fifties providing the tenth occasion of first four batsman scoring fifties in a test innings. India’s feat is the second such occasion against New Zealand, the first being at Mohali in Oct 1999 – DJ Gandhi {75}, S Ramesh {73}, R Dravid {144} and SR Tendulkar {126*}. Note : SC Ganguly also scored 64 not out in this innings making it first five batsmen scoring fifties.

G Gambhir {78}, V Sehwag {74}, R Dravid {69*} and SR Tendulkar {57*} scored fifties providing the 153rd, 154th, 155th and 156th occasion of Indian batsman scoring fifties against New Zealand.

G Gambhir {78}, V Sehwag {74}, R Dravid {69*} and SR Tendulkar {57*} scored half centuries providing the 109th, 110th 111th and 112nd occasion of Indian batsman scoring half centuries against New Zealand.

Gambhir’s 78 represents his 13th test half century and 22nd fifty : V Sehwag’s 74 represents his 26th test fifty and 48th fifty : R Dravid’s 69 not out represents his 60th test half century and 90th fifty : SR Tendulkar’s 57 not out represents his 59th test fifty and 108th fifty.

R Dravid with his 60 half centuries became the second batsman to score 60 plus half centuries in the annals of test cricket. The other batsman is AR Border who has scored 63 half centuries. SR Tendulkar is close behind with 59 half centuries.

R Dravid’s 69 not out represent his 90th fifty {30 hundreds and 60 half centuries}. He became the fifth batsman to score 90 plus fifties. The other four are – SR Tendulkar – 108 {49 C plus 59 HC} : RT Ponting – 94 {39 C plus 55 HC} : JH Kallis – 91 {37 C plus 54 HC} and AR Border – 90 {27 C plus 63 HC}.

G Gambhir and V Sehwag added 113 runs for the first wicket in this test to provide the 54th occasion of Indian batsmen posting a three figure partnership against New Zealand. This stand provides the eleventh occasion of Indian batsmen posting a three figure partnership for the first wicket against New Zealand.

R Dravid and SR Tendulkar added 100 runs for the first wicket in an unfinished stand for the third wicket in this test to provide the 55th occasion of Indian batsmen posting a three figure partnership against New Zealand. This stand provides the tenth occasion of Indian batsmen posting a three figure partnership for the third wicket against New Zealand.

R Dravid and SR Tendulkar with their 100 runs unfinished third wicket partnership in this test now own the record for most fifty plus runs partnerships in the annals of test cricket. They have now 43 such partnerships. They went past the 42 occasions of fifty plus runs partnerships held by two pairs – CG Greenidge-DL Haynes and ML Hayden-JL Langer

R Dravid and SR Tendulkar are the only two batsmen in the annals of test cricket to have 80 plus three figure partnerships. He became the fifth batsman in the annals of test cricket to have 25 plus three figure partneships for the third wicket. Others are – SR Tenudular {34}, BC Lara {26}, DPMD Jayawardene {29} and JH Kallis {27}

For SR Tendulkar this partnership is the 34th three figure partnership for the third wicket. R Dravid and RT Ponting has 34 and 39 three figure partnerships to their credit for the second wicket. These are the only three batsmen in the annals of test cricket to have 34 plus three figure partnerships for any wicket.

For R Dravid this partnership provides the 25th partnership for the third wicket.
