Harbhajan Singh scored 69 and 115 in this test to provide the 13th occasion of an Indian batsman scoring fifties in both innings of a test against New Zealand.

VVS Laxman’s 91 plus in the second innings of this test represents his 47th test half century and 63rd fifty.

Harbhajan Singh with his 69 and 115 became the third Indian batsman to score fifties in both innings of a test against New Zealand at Ahmedabad. Others are – 125 and 53 by SC Ganguly in Oct 1999 and 222 and 73 by R Dravid in Oct 2003.

VVS Laxman {91} and Harhajan Singh {115} scored fifties in India’s second innings providing the 50th and 51st occasion of Indian batsman scoring fifties in its second innings against New Zealand

DL Vettori deployed BB McCullum to bowl the last over before Lunch on the final day, which was his fist over of his test career and in representative International cricket.

Harbhajan Singh’s twin fifties in this test – 69 and 115 – makes him the fourth batsman who has scored twin fifties while batting at number eight. LRPL Taylor captured his first test wicket when he had Harbhajan Singh caught by BJ Watling for 115. He returned with figures of 4.4.-2-4-2 in second innings of this test. His second wicket was that of S Sreesanth whom he had caught by Hopkins for 4.

Zaheer Khan collected the first ball duck in this game to provide the 119th occasion of an Indian batsman collecting the first ball duck in an innings. His first ball duck provide the tenth occasion of Indian batsman suffering such an ignominy against New Zealand. This the second occasion of Zaheer Khan collecting the first ball duck against New Zealand, the first occasion being at Mohali in Oct 2003. Zaheer Khan became the second Indian batsman after N Kapil Dev to collect the first ball duck on two occasions.

TG McIntosh collected a pair in this to provide the 59th occasion of a New Zealand batsman to suffer such an ignominy in tests. His pair in this test provides the seventh occasion of New Zealand opening batsman collecting a pair in a test match.

KS Williamson scored hundred on debut when he leg glanced Zaheer Khan’s delivery and took his score from 99 to 103 {122.6 over}. He was finally dismissed for 131. DL Vettori had an aggregate of 490 runs against India prior to the start of the test series. He required ten more runs for his 500 runs. He scored 41 runs in New Zealand’s first innings and at the end of New Zealand’s first innings, his aggregate stood at 531. He became the tenth New Zealand batsman to total 500 plus runs against India. G Gambhir scored zero in India’s second innings providing the 68th occasion of an Indian batsman scoring zero against New Zealand. It also provides the 12th occasion of an Indian opening batsman scoring a duck against New Zealand.

V Sehwag was dismissed run out in India’s second innings providing the 21st occasion of Indian batsman dismissed run out against New Zealand. It also provides the sixth occasion of an Indian opening batsman scoring a duck against New Zealand.

V Sehwag was dismissed run out for the second time against New Zealand as an opening batsman. The first occasion was at Hamilton in Mar 2009 when he was run out after scoring 24. V Sehwag is the second Indian opening batsman to be dismissed run out on two occasions, the other being S Abid Ali

DL Vettori shared the new ball in New Zealand’s second innings to provide the second occasion of a left arm spin bowler sharing the new ball. The first occasion was at Bangalore in Nov 1988, when EH Gray had shared the new ball.

India lost three wickets for two runs in its second innings to provide the fourth occasion of a team losing three wickets with two runs on the board. BB McCullum scored fifty {65} which represent the 127th occasion of a New Zealand bowler scoring a fifty against India. His knock represents the 34th occasion of a New Zealand batsman scoring a fifty against India. It is BB McCullum’s first fifty on Indian soil and represents his 17th half century of his test career. At the end of his innings, his run aggregate stood at 2927

LRPL scored fifty {56} which represent the 128th occasion of a New Zealand bowler scoring a fifty against India. His knock represents the 35th occasion of a New Zealand batsman scoring a fifty against India. It is LRPL Taylor’s first fifty on Indian soil and represents his tenth half century of his test career. At the end of his innings, his run aggregate stood at 1997 and is three runs shy for his 2000 career runs.

BB McCullum and LRPL Taylor added 104 runs for the third wicket in this test to provide the 45th occasion of New Zealand batsmen posting a three figure stand against India. This stand also represents the tenth occasion of New Zealand batsman posting a three figure partnership for the third wicket against India.

MS Dhoni effected the 24th stumping of his test career, when he stumped BB McCullum of PP Ojha for 65. Coupled with 128 catches, MS Dhoni has an aggregate of 152 victims.

BB McCullum became the 14th New Zealand batsman to be dismissed stumped against India. He is the fifth New Zealand batsman to be dismissed stumped after scoring a fifty.
