JH Kallis and MV Boucher added 103 runs for the seventh wicket in this test providing the 29th occasion of South African batsmen posting a century stand against India. This stand represents the third occasion for the seventh wicket. The other two occasions are – 121 between L Klusener and MV Boucher at Bloemfontein in Nov 2001 and 101 runs unfinished stand between BM McMillan and SM Pollock at Cape Town in Jan 1997. Thus the 103 runs partnership between JH Kallis and MV Boucher in this represents the record stand for the seventh wicket by South African batsmen against India at Cape Town. Interestingly, all the three century stands for the seventh wicket has come in the tests played in South Africa.

JH Kallis’ century in the second innings was his eighth hundred at Cape Town. He became the third batsman in the annals of test cricket to score eight or more hundreds at a specific venue. Others are DPMD Jayawardene of Sri Lanka – 10 hundreds at Col-SSC and DG Bradman of Australia – 09 hundreds at Melbourne.
Harbhajan Singh captured his 25th five wicket haul of his test career when he captured seven wickets for 120 in this test. He is the eighth bowler in the annals of test cricket to capture 25 plus five wicket hauls. Harbhajan Singh’s seven wicket haul in this test provide the 16th occasion of an Indian bowler capturing five wicket haul against South Africa. His figures represent the fourth occasion of his performing such a feat. The other three occasions are – 7 for 37 at Kolakta in Nov 2004 : 5 for 59 at Kolkata in Feb 2010 and 5 for 164 at Chennai in Mar 2008. His five wickets in this represents his first five wicket haul in South Africa
