IPL 5 – CH Gayle earns yet another feather in his cap – Emulates DA Warner to score 1000 plus runs in two successive calendar years

CH Gayle completed 1000 runs in the calendar year 2012 when he was on 52 during his knock of 128 not out in the game between Bangalore and Delhi at Delhi on 17.05.12. At the end of this game his aggregate read 1067.

His feat provides the eleventh occasion of a batsman scoring 1000 runs in a calendar year. All the eleven occasions are listed below

CH Gayle became the second batsman to score 1000 plus runs in two separate calendar years in the history of T20 games. He scored 1497 runs in 2011 and 1067 runs in 2012. DA Warner is the other batsman to perform such a feat in two separate calendar years –  1082 runs in 2010 and 1181 runs in 2011.  The performances of these two batsmen are furnished in the following table. It is interesting to note that these two batsman have performed the feat in back to back calendar years
