S Viswanath – former Indian test wicket keeper – who has taken up umpiring after retirement from all forms of cricket – became the second umpire to officiate 20 plus games in KPL including TV umpiring assignments. He is officiating this game as an on-field umpire. This his 21st umpiring assingnment in KPL. The other umpire to officiate 20 plus umpiring assignments is NRS Prabhu who is officiating this game. It is his 24th game in KPL

KK Nair’s first boundary four during his knock of 73 not out in this game gave him his 59th boundary four and with it the record of most boundary fours in KPL. He went past MA Agarwal who had scored 58 boundary fours. His aggregate of boundary fours in KPL read 65 at the end of this game. He earned the distinction of becoming the first batsman in KPL to score 60 plus boundary fours.

KK Nair completed 600 runs in this game when he was on 23 during his knock of 73 not out. At the end of this game, his run aggregate read 650. He became the fourth batsman to total 600 plus runs in IPL. Others are – MA Agarwal {724], B Chipli [608} and R Jonathan {602}

With 650 runs to his credit, KK Nair now occupies the second place in the list of batsmen who have scored most runs in the tournament. MA Agarwal with 724 runs occupies the first place.

KK Nair scored 73 not out in this game to provide the 105th occasion of a batsman scoring a fifty in KPL. It also provides the 67th occasion of an opening batsman scoring a fifty in KPL. KK Nair’s 73 not out in this games provide his fifth fifty in KPL which includes a hundred.

Play was suspended due to inclement weather coupled with heavy rains when Mangalore United’s score was 123 for 2 in 15.0 overs. The play was finally called off at 4.00 PM. Both the teams shared a point each. This game provides the fifth No result game in KPL
