Shoaib Malik of Pakistan scored 245 and duck in the just concluded test against England at Abu Dhabi to provide the sixth occasion of a batsman scoring a double hundred and a duck in the annals of test cricket. All such occasions are listed below

Shoib Malik’s 245 is the highest score among the six batsman who have scored a double hundred and a duck. The previous best was RT Ponting’s 242 against India at Adelaide in Dec 2003

Shoaib Malik became the second Pakistan batsman to score a double hundred and a duck in a test. Imtiaz Ahmed had scored 209 and a duck against New Zealand at Lahore in October 1955. It took exactly 60 years to repeat the feat of Imtiaz Ahmed by another Pakistan batsman in this category of statistics. Imtiaz Ahmed’s feat was on Oct 2055, while Shoaib Malik’s feat was in Oct 2015

Of the six occasions listed above, on only one occasion, a batsman scored a duck in the first innings and a double hundred in the second innings. AD Nourse of South Africa scored a duck and 231 against Australia at Johannesburg in Dec 1935.
