Qualifying Group, 1st Match: Afghanistan v United Arab Emirates at Fatullah – Feb 19, 2016. United Arab Emirates 176/4 (20/20 ov); Afghanistan 160 (19.5/20 ov) – United Arab Emirates won by 16 runs

This game has been numbered as 501st T20I in the history of T20 Internationals. Prior to  this 500 T20Is have been played.

Dawlat Zardan of Afghanistan earned the honour of delivering the first ball in the tournament, while Rohan Mustafa earned the honour of facing the first of the tournament

Amjad Javed – the UAE Captain – won the toss in this inaugural game and opted to bat first. Asgar Stanikzai was the Afghanistan captain. The rival wicket keepers were SP Patil for UAE and Mohammad Shahzad for Afghanistan

Rohan Mustafa scored the first boundary four and also the first boundary six of the tournament while the first wicket was captured by Rashid Khan of Afghanistan who had the wicket of UAE opener Mohammad Khaleem for 25

The first 50 plus runs partnership of the tournament was posted by UAE openers Roshan Mustafa and Mohammd Khalim who added 83 runs for the first wicket

The credit of scoring the first half century of the tournament befell on Roshan Mustafa of UAE who scored 77 off 50 deliveries in a stay of 58 minutes with the help of seven boundary fours and four boundary sixes.

Rashid Khan of Afghanistan became the first bowler in the tournament to capture three wickets. He returned with figures of 4.0-0-25-3 in this game.

Najibullah Zadran of Afghanistan became the first batsman to be dismissed run out in the tournament. He was dismissed run out for 21 in this game. Amir Hamza of Afghanistan became the first batsman to be dismissed stumped in the tournament. He was dismissed stumped by SP Patil off Rohan Mustafa for  4 in this game

Afghanistan became the first team in the tournament to be dismissed all out. It was dismissed all out for 160 in 19.5 overs

The first occasion of a batsman’s fifty in a losing cause in the tournament was witnessed in this game. Afghanistan batsman Karim Sadiq scored 72 in this game, but his team ended up as a losing side

Roshan Mustafa scored 77 and captured 3 for 29 to provide the first occasion of an all-round performance of the tournament – 50 coupled with three wickets

Qualifying Group, 2nd Match: Hong Kong v Oman at Fatullah – Feb 19, 2016 – Oman 180/5 (20/20 ov); Hong Kong 175/7 (20/20 ov) – Oman won by 5 runs

Babar Hayat of Hong Kong scored the first century of the tournament when he made 122 in this game. His knock came in 60 deliveries with nine  boundary four and seven boundary sixes. Babar Hayat became the first batsman to score five or more boundary sixes in the tournament in the game played so far. 

His century provides the first occasion of a batsman’s century going in vain as Hong Kong lost the game by five runs

KD Shah of Hong Kong earned the dubious distinction of scoring the first duck of the tournament when he failed to open his account in this game. As he opened the innings he became the first opening batsman to score a duck in the tournament. Nizakat Khan of Hong Kong became the first batsman in the tournament to collect the first ball duck.

Zeeshan Maqsood of Oman became the first bowler in the tournament to be honoured with a “Bowler’s fifty”. He returned with figures of 4.0-0-54-1 in this game. As on date he is credit with the tag of most expensive bowler in terms of runs conceded in the tournament

Qualifying Group, 3rd Match: Afghanistan v Oman at Fatullah – Feb 20, 2016 – Oman 165/4 (20/20 ov); Afghanistan 168/7 (19.3/20 ov) – Afghanistan won by 3 wickets (with 3 balls remaining)

Zeeahan Maqsood of Oman became the first batsman and also the first opening batsman in the tournament to be dismissed stumped after scoring a fifty. He was dismissed stumped after scoring 52 in this game.

Oman became the first team in the tournament to have two batsmen scoring fifties in an innings. Zeeshan Maqsood and Adnan Ilyas score 52 and 54 respectively in this game

This game witnessed the first occasion of rival opening batsmen scoring fifties in the tournament. Zeeshen Maqsood of Oman scored 52 and Noor Ali Zadran of Afghanistan scored 63 in this game.

This game witnessed the first occasion of two bowlers conceding 40 plus runs in the same innings.  AV Lalchta and M Ansari of Oman leaked 43 and 40 runs in this fame. M Ansari with his figures of none for 40 became the first bowler to leak 40 plus runs without a wicket in the tournament.

Mehran Khan of Oman with his 3 for 18 has the best bowling figures in the tournament matches played so far. The previous best was Roshan Mustafa’s 3 for 19 in the opening fixture of the tournament between UAE and Afghanistan at Fatulla on 19.02.16.
