Double Century and a fifty in a test – JE Root of England joins the list
England’s JE Root scored 254 and 71 not out in the just concluded test at Manchester between England and Pakistan to provide the 38th occasion of a batsman scoring a double century and a fifty in a test. All such occasions are listed below

KC Sangkkara, R Dravid, RT Ponting, SM Gavaskar, SR Tenudulkar and VVS Laxman are the six batsmen who have accomplished the feat twice. SM Gavaskar was the first batsman to score a double century and a fifty in a test on two occasions. It is interesting to note that out of the six batsmen who have accomplished the feat, four of them are Indian batsmen – R Dravid, SM Gavaskar, SR Tendulkar and VVS Laxman
