V Kohli who led India in this test became the 21st captain to lead India against West Indies, while JO Holder became the 13^th captain to lead West Indies against India. V Kohli is the 12^th captain to lead India against West Indies in West Indies, while JO Holder became the tenth captain to lead West Indies against India in West Indies

India and West Indies had new wicket keepers in West Indies-India Test series. WP Saha who kept wickets for India in this test became the 16^th wicket keeper to keep wickets for India against West Indies, while SO Dowrich who kept wickets for West Indies in this test became the 18^th wicket keeper to keep wickets for West Indies against India. WP Saha became the 13^th wicket keeper to keep wickets for India against West Indies in West Indies, while SO Dowrich became the 15^th wicket keeper to keep wickets for West Indies against India in West Indies.

SO Dowrich had played two tests against Australia in 2015 series as a batsman and not as a wicket keeper. This is the first occasion in which he has donned the gloves as a wicket keeper in tests.

V Kohli scored 143 not out at the end of the first day of this test to provide the 82nd occasion of an Indian batsman scoring a century against West Indies. It also provides the 38th such occasion by an Indian batsman against West Indies in West Indies.

V Kohli’s 143 not out provides the tenth occasion of an Indian captain scoring a century against West Indies. V Kohli became the third Indian captain to score a century against West Indies in West Indies after N Kapil Dev and R Dravid.
