RA Jadeja of India became the third cricketer to score 500 plus runs and capture 50 plus wickets in a season after Kapil Dev of India and MG Johnson of Australia. RA Jadeja has scored 556 runs and captured 71 wickets in 2016-17 season. The following table lists the performance of these three all round cricketers.

South African bowler M Morkel’s aggregate of test wickets at the end of New Zealand’s first innings in the ongoing test at Hamilton read 252. He became the 29th medium pace bowler  in  the  annals of test cricket to capture 250 plus test wickets. KM Willamson’s 148 not out as at the end of the third day in the test between New Zealand and South Africa at Hamilton represents his 17th test century. He now jointly shares the record of most centuries by a New Zealand batsman in test cricket with MD Crowe who has also scored similar number of centuries. KN Willamson of New Zealand completed 5000  test runs during his knock of 148 not out against South Africa in the ongoing test at Hamilton. He reached the milestone when he was on 60 during his knock of 148 not out. At the  end of the third day of the test, his run aggregate read 5088. He became the 90th batsman in the annals of test cricket to amass 5000 plus test runs and also the sixth New Zealand batsman to compile 5000 plus test runs. R Aswhin created two world records – one individually and another with RA Jadeja. His individual record will be thus –He took three wickets in the second innings of Dharamsala test to take his tally of wickets to 82 in this season of 2016-17. He became the first bowler ever in the history of test cricket to capture 80 plus wickets in a test season. At the end of the first innings of the ongoing test at Dharamsala, his aggregate of wickets in 2016-17 read 79

Another record he has created with RA Jadeja reads thus – RA Jadeja had captured 68 wickets as at the end of the first innings of the ongoing test at Dharamsala. He needed two more wickets for his 70 wickets. He took three wickets in the second  innings to take his tally of wickets to 71 in 2016-17 season and  paired with R Ashwin to become the first pair of bowlers in the annals of test cricket to capture seventy plus wickets in the same test season – a feat never achieved before. R Ashwin had captured 82 wickets as at the end of Australia’s  second innings of the ongoing test at Dharamsala

NM Lyon has captured five or more wickets in an innings on four occasions against India. One more five wicket innings haul would give him five such occasions. He took five for 92 in India’s first innings to become seventh bowler in the annals of test cricket to capture five or more five wicket innings haul against India. Others are – M Muralitharan {07}, IT Botham {06}, Imran Khan {06}, MD Marshall {06}, R Benaud {05} and DW Steyn {05}

NM Lyon has captured five or more wickets in an innings on four occasions against India. One more five wicket innings haul would give him five such occasions. He took five for 92 in India’s first innings to become the second Australian bowler to capture five or more five wicket innings haul against India after R Benaud. R Benaud has captured five or more wickets in an innings on five occasions against India.

WP Saha has an aggregate of 982 runs in tests prior to the start of the test. He needed 18 more runs for his 1000 runs. He scored 31 runs in the first innings of this test to take his tally to 1013 runs. He became the 66th Indian batsman to score 1000 plus runs  in tests.

R Ashwin has an aggregate of 67 wickets against Australia. Three more wickets would fetch him 70 wickets. He took four wickets in this test to take his tally of wickets to 71 against Australia. He became the fourth Indian bowler to capture 70 plus wickets against Australia. Others are – A Kumble {111}, Harbhajan Singh {95} and N Kapil Dev {79}

R Ashwin had an aggregate of 46 wickets against Australia at home. He needed four more wickets for his 50 wickets. He took four wickets in this test to take his tally of wickets to 50 against Australia at home. He become the third Indian bowler to capture 50 plus wickets against Australia at home. Other two are – Harbhajan Singh {86} and A Kumble {62}

R Ashwin had an aggregate of 46 wickets against Australia at home. He needed four more wickets for his 50 wickets. He took four wickets in this test to take his tally of wickets to 50 against Australia at home.
