Dharamsala test would become the 50^th test  between India  and Australia at home.  Dharamsala would become would become the 27^th ground in India to host a test and  also would become 111^th ground in the annals of test cricket to host a test.

 

Incase V Kohli does not play at Dharamsala, who ever leads India, he would become the 33^rd captain to  lead India in tests and also the 17^th captain to lead India in tests against Australia. He also would become the 13^th captain to lead India in tests against Australia on home soil. He also would become the 27^th captain to lead India in a test on home soil.

 

RA Jadeja has an aggregate of 988 runs in tests prior to the start of the test. He needs 12 more runs for his 1000 runs. If he gets it, he would then become the 65^th Indian batsman to  score 1000 plus runs  in tests.

 

WP Saha has an aggregate of 982 runs in tests prior to the start of the test. He needs 18 more runs for his 1000 runs. If he gets it, he would then become the 66^th Indian batsman to  score 1000 plus runs  in tests.

WP Saha has an aggregate of 946 runs in tests prior to the start of the test. He needs 54 more runs for his 1000 runs. If he gets it, he would then become the sixth Indian wicket keeper batsman to score 1000 plus runs in tests. SPD Smith has scored 39 fifties  prior to the  start of this test. One more  fifty would fetch him  his 40^th  fifty. If he gets it, he would then become the 19^th Australian batsman to score 40 plus fifties

SPD Smith has scored nine fifties against India prior to the start of this test. One more fifty would fetch him his tenth fifty. NM Lyon has an aggregate of 243 wickets prior to the start of the Ranchi test. He needs eight more wickets for his 250 wickets. If he gets them, he would then become the eighth Australian bowler to capture 250 plus wickets. NM Lyon has an aggregate of 59 wickets against India. He needs one  more wicket for his 60 wickets. If he gets them, then he would become the 14th bowler in the annals of test cricket to capture 60 plus wickets against India. R Benaud has captured five or more wickets in an innings on five occasions against India.

 

R Aswhin and Harbhajan Singh share the second the joint second place with 25 five wicket hauls each in the list of Indian bowlers who have captured most five wicket hauls. A Kumble leads the table with 35 such hauls. One more five wicket  haul  for R Ashwin  would place him the  second in the list with 26 five wicket hauls.
