A Nehra’s wicket tally in IPL read 100. He captured his 100th wicket in this game, when he bowled Aravind for a duck and returned with figures of 2 for 42 in this game. He became the eighth bowler in the history of IPL to capture 100 plus wickets. This game witnessed two cricketers from the same country leading rival teams. DA Warner was leading Sunrisers, Hyderabad and SR Watson was leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
CH Gayle is in threshold of becoming the first batsman to score ten thousand runs in the history of Twenty20 games. At the end of the first game of IPL 2017 his run aggregate stands at 9969. He needs 31 more runs to achieve the coveted feat.
DA Warner has scored 59 fifties in T20 games. He needs one more score of fifty plus runs to get to his 60th fifty. If he gets one more fifty, he would then become the second batsman in the annals of Twenty20 games to score 60 fifties after CH Gayle. CH Gayle has scored 78 fifties

CH Gayle has an aggregate of 2995 runs while playing for Royal Challengers, Bangalore. He needs 05 more runs for his 3000 runs. If he gets them, he would then become the third batsman in the history of IPL to score 3000 plus runs playing for a single team in IPL. Others are – V Kohli – 4110 runs for Bengaluru and SK Raina – 3699 runs for Chennai.
DA Warner has scored 1952 runs for Sunrisers. He needs 48 more runs for his 2000 runs. KA Pollard has scored 1985 runs for Mumbai Indians. He needs 15 more runs for his 2000 runs. If they get these runs, then they would become the 14th and 15th batsman in the history of IPL to score 2000 plus runs for a single team
DA Warner has scored 1952 runs for Sunrisers. He needs 48 more runs for his 2000 runs. If he gets them, then he would become the third batsman in the history of IPL to score 2000 plus runs for a one team and 1000 plus runs for another team. Others are – RG Sharma and G Gambhir. DA Warner {6935} and KA Pollard {6950} require 65 and 50 runs for their 7000 runs in T20 games. If they get them, then they would become the fourth and fifth batsmen in the history of T20 games to total 7000 plus runs. Others are – CH Gayle {9937}, BB McCullum {7371} and BJ Hodge {7338}
KA Pollard’s highest individual score is 89 not out in T20 games. If he completes 7000 runs, he would become the first batsman in the history of T20 games to aggregate 7000 plus without a century.
IPL – 2017 – M-02 – Highlights
SPD Smith became the third cricketer to lead three teams in IPL. Others are KC Sangakkara {Deccan, Punjab and Sunrisers} and DPMD Jayawardene {Delhi, Punjab and Kochi}. Interestingly enough, all these three cricketers are overseas cricketers

SPD Smith scored 84 not out in this game to provide the second occasion of a Rising Pune Supergiants skipper scoring a fifty in IPL after MS Dhoni. MS Dhoni had scored 64 not out against Punjab at Vizag on 21.05.16. Thus SPD Smith’s 84 not out represent the highest score by a Rising Pune Superggiant captain.
This game was the first game in IPL for MS Dhoni as a cricketer. Prior to this he has skippered either Chennai Super Kings or Rising Pune Supergiants.
MS Dhoni’s aggregate of dismissals in IPL read 90 at the end of this game. He became the second wicket keeper to effect 90 plus dismissals in IPL. KD Karthik had effected 98 dismissals. MS Dhoni took one catch in this game.
MS Dhoni’s lone catch in this game gave him 180 dismissals in T20 games. He became the third wicket keeper in the history of T20 games to effect 180 plus dismissals. Others are – Kamran Akmal {200} and KC Sangakkara {180}. Thus MS Dhoni and KC Sangakkara share the second place jointly amongst the wicket keepers who have effected most dismissals in T20 games
MS Dhoni has pouched 119 catches so far in T20 games. He needs five more catches to overhaul the existing record of 123 catches pouched by KC Sangakkara
AM Rahane’s 60 in this game represent his seventh fifty for Rising Pune Supergiants. He also totalled 500 plus runs during the course of his 60 in this game. His run aggregate read 540 at the end of this game. He became the first Rising Pune Supergiansts batsman to score 500 plus runs in IPL
SPD Smiths’ 84 in this game represent the second highest individual score by a Rising Pune Supergiants batsman in IPL. The highest score is also by SPD Smith who had scored 101 against Gujarat Lions at Pune-SRS on 29.04.16
