The previous record was held by NLTC Perera who had leaked 44 runs for his six wickets against Pakistan at Pallekele on 09 Jun 2012. By a coincidence, both A Dananjaya and NLTC Perera chose Pallekele as venue to capture exact six wickets

MS Dhoni and B Kumar added 100 runs in an unfinished partnership for the eighth wicket in this game. The unfinished partnership of 100 runs for the eighth wicket between MS Dhoni and B Kumar gave India, its eighth unfinished partnership in one day games against Sri Lanka. India  and Australia share  the record  for most unfinished partnerships against Sri Lanka.

 

When MS Dhoni stumped Sri Lankan opener MD Gunathilaka off the bowling of YS Chahal for 19, in this game against Sri Lanka at Pallekele, he had effected his 99th stumping dismissals in one day internationals.  At the end of the game, MS Dhoni and KC Sangakkara own the record for most stumping dismissals in the history of one day games
