KPL VI – Match No 02 – Bengaluru Blasters vs Mysuru Warriors at Bangalore on 02.09.17 – Mysuru Warriors won by 38 runs 

 

Intermittent rain delayed the start of the game at the scheduled time and the game started at 9.45 PM. An eight over a side game with two overs of power play was played.

 

Bengaluru Blasters became the 14th team to take part in KPL. It is also the third team from Bangalore to participate in KPL. The complete list of team that have taken part in KPL read thus

KK Nair who was one of the two cricketers to have played for a single in all the five previous editions was playing for his second team in KPL – Mysore Warriors in this edition.

 

KK Nair became the fourth captain to lead Mysore Warriors in KPL. Others are – MK Pandey {18}, CM Gautham {03] and AB Sagar {02}

 

KK Nair scored 14 in this game which fetched him an aggregate of 793 runs in KPL. He now occupies the sixth place in the list of most run getters in KPL. Others are – MA Agarwal {1165}, KB Pawan {827}, R Jonathan {823}, Amit Verma {819} and R Samarth {802}.

R Samarth scored a duck in this game to provide his third duck in KPL and his first as captain. R Samarth was playing his 25th KPL game.He became the 39th cricketer to play 25 or more KPL games.

 

VV Kumar returned with figures of 2 for 13 in this game. He now has an aggregate of 35 wickets in KPL. He occupies the fourth place in the list of bowlers who have captured most wickets in KPL. Others are – K Gowtham {48}, R Vinay Kumar {43} and J Suchith {42}

 

SL Akshay’s three wickets in this game fetched him a total of 30 wickets in KPL. He became the seventh bowler to capture 30 plus wickets in KPL. Others are – K Gowtham {48}, R Vinay Kumar {43}, J Suchith {42}, VV Kumar {35}, Amit Verma {34} and NC Aiyappa {31}

 

Mysuru Warriors won this game by 38 runs to register its 16th win in KPL. Mysuru Warriors became the fifth team to win 16 or more games in KPL.  Other teams to post 16 or more wins in KPL are – Bijapur Bulls {22}, Belagavi Panthers {21}, Hubli Tigers {16} and Mangalore United [16}

 

SL Akshay earned the distinction of becoming the first cricketer in KPL to represent five teams. He had represented Hubli Tigers, Malnad Gladiators, Mangalore United in the earlier editions and he is representing Mysuru Warriors  in this edition.
