V Kohli’s 243 in the ongoing test against Sri Lanka at Delhi provide his third double century in the calendar year 2017. His feat provides the fourth occasion of a captain scoring three or more double centuries in a calendar year in the annals of test cricket. All such occasions are tabulated below

V Kohli became the only captain to accomplish this feat in two separate calendar years – 2016 and 2017. He also became the only captain to accomplish the feat in consecutive  calendar  years in  the annals of test cricket
