HM Amla was  playing his 19th test against India when he played the Cape Town Test.  He now owns the record for most South African caps against India. He went past JH Kallis who has played 18 tests against India.

AB de Viliers had an aggregate of 493 runs against India at home. He needed seven more runs for  his 500 runs. He scored 65 in South Africa’s first innings. At the end of his innings, his run aggregate read 558. He became the third South African batsman to total 500 plus runs against India at home. Others are – JH Kallis {974} and GC Smith {556}. AB de Villiers occupies the second place amongst the South African batsmen who have scored most runs against India at home.

HM Amla had played 31 innings against India prior to the start of this test. His first innings at Cape Town test was his 32nd innings. He now owns the record for most test innings played by South African batsman against India. He went go past JH Kallis who has played 31 innings against India.

AB de Villiers had played 29 innings against India prior to the start of this test. . His first innings at Cape Town test was his 30th innings. He became the third South African batsman to play 30 plus innings against India. Others are HM Amla {32} and JH Kallis {31}.

AB de Villiers had scored four half centuries against India prior to the start of this test. His half century {  }  in the first innings of this test fetched him his fifth half century. He become the fifth  South African batsman to score five or more half centuries against India. Others are – GC Smith {08}, AC Hudson {06}, MV Boucher{05} and JH Kallis {05}

The first such occasion was at North Sound against West Indies in Jul 2016 when he had effected six dismissals {05 ct plus  01 st}

Q de Cock took his 100th catch in tests, when he caught Indian Skipper V Kohli off the bowling of M Morkel. He became the fourth South African wicket keeper to pouch 100 catches. Others are – MV Boucher {530}, DJ Richardson {150} and JHB Waite {124}
