SPD Smith of Australia pouched five catches in South Africa’s first innings in the ongoing test at Cape Town to become the fifth captain excluding captain wicketkeepers to pouch five catches in test innings. Interestingly enough, both VY Richardson and SPD Smith pouched five catches against South Africa on the South African soil. The former’s performance was at Durban in Feb 1936, while the latter’s performance came 72 years later at Cape Town
