This game ended in a tie – the first ever tied game in the history of KPL, Consequently, it also provided the first one over eliminator of the tournament.
Shivmogga Lions won the toss and opted to bat first and posted a total of 151 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs. Bellary Tuskers posted a total of 151 for 4 in its 20 overs. With the scores being level, the result match was tied. This resulted in one over eliminator also called as super over. Bellary Tuskers scored 21 runs in one over to which Shivamogga Lions replied with 09 runs which left Bellary Tuskers winners by 12 runs in the one over eliminator
M Gautam and Karthik CA to open. Aniruddha Joshi to bowl.
Ball 1: Joshi to Karthik, 2 runs, takes the outer edge and they will get a brace. That was a wild swing and lucky he got a brace
Ball 2: Joshi to Karthik, OUT!, caught by Abhilash Shetty. That was a cross-batted swipe and the fielder at deep square leg takes it. More drama here
Ritesh Bhatkal walks in
Ball 3: Joshi to Gautam, SIX, that has been biffed away across the line. A little shimmy and murdered over cow corner. Big hit, big statement
Ball 4: Joshi to Gautam, SIX, that is another slog sweep. Sat down and swept it over deep mid for another maximum
Ball 5: Joshi to Gautam, 1 run, that has been slog swept again, mistimed though and it lands well short of the man at deep mid for a single
Ball 6: Joshi to Ritesh Bhatkal, SIX, that has been slapped down the ground. A big hit again. That was flatter and the batsman stroked it with the power to send it scorching over the bowler’s head for the third six of the super over
22 to win! Even 21 will do as Shivamogga hit more boundaries in the original game. Skipper Joshi got it horribly wrong. Why would you bowl an off-spinner in a super over? That is very rare and I guess they will have to pay for it.
Tuskers are still not sure whom to bowl in the super over. There is a cabinet meeting going on to decide it.
Aniruddha Joshi and Aditya Somanna will open. SL Akshay will bowl the over.
Ball 1: Akshay to Aniruddha, 1 run, yorker length delivery outside off, toe-ended down to long-off
Ball 2: Akshay to Aditya, 1 run, full-toss at the stumps, nothing shot from Adithya Reddy as he drives it straight to cover
Ball 3: Akshay to Aniruddha, no run, perfect yorker at the stumps. Whatta delivery under pressure. Adithya Reddy could only push it back. Is this, game, set and match?
Ball 4: Akshay to Aniruddha, 1 run, fuller length delivery outside off, Adithya Reddy opens the face of the bat to long-off. 19 still needed
Ball 5: Akshay to Aditya, 1 run, Slower delivery on a back of a length, Adithya Reddy was beaten by the lack of pace and he could only pull it to deep square leg
Ball 6: Akshay to Anirudha, wide, down the leg-side. Wide called. It won’t matter
Ball 6: Akshay to Aniruddha, FOUR, another slower ball, Adithya Reddy waits for it and carves it through deep cover for a boundary. Tuskers win the super over by 12 runs!
R Jonathan scored 45 runs in this game which fetched him an aggregate of 1110 run in KPL. He now stands third in the list of batsmen who have scored most runs in the tournament. MA Agarwal {1419} and B Chipli {1121] occupy the first two places.
