RR Pant of India shares the record for most dismissals in a test

RR Pant of India effected eleven dismissals against Australia in the just concluded test to own the record jointly with RC Russell of England and AB de Villiers of South Africa for most dismissals in a test. All the three wicketkeepers have effected eleven dismissals. The following table lists the wicket keepers who have effected ten or more dismissals in a test.

RR Pant became the second Indian gloveman to effect ten or more dismissals in a test after WP Saha. WP Saha had dismissed ten South African batsmen at Cape Town in Jan 2018. Thus RR Pant’s effort in this test at Adelaide in an Indian record for most dismissals in a test. WP Saha’s record was obliterated by RR Pant in just under a year.

RR Pant’s effort is a record for most dismissals in a test against Australia. Previously, three wicketkeepers – DA Murray, RD Jacobs and MS Dhoni – had effected nine dismissals against Australia. The feats of these four wicketkeepers are detailed below. RR Pant’s effort is a record for most dismissals by an Indian wicketkeeper against Australia. He obliterated MS Dhoni’s record of nine dismissals at Melbourne in Dec 2014.
