KC Brathwaite scored 75 in West Indies first innings to provide the 70th occasion of West Indies opening batsman batting at number one scoring a fifty against England. It also provides the 40th occasion of West Indies opening batsman batting at number one scoring a fifty against England in England.
KC Brathwaite’s run aggregate against England at the end of this test read 751. He became the 30th West Indies batsman to total 750 plus runs against England, He also became the eighth West Indies opening batsman total 750 plus runs against England,
His 75 in the first innings of this test provides the fifth fifty against England. He became the eight West Indies opening batsman to score five or more fifties. Others are – DL Haynes {18}, CG Greenidge {15}, RC Fredericks {14}, CH Gayle {10}, JB Stollmeyer {07}, SL Campbell {07} and CC Hunte {05}
SO Dowrich was dismissed for a duck to provide the 28th occasion of a West Indies wicketkeeper batsman scoring a duck in a test innings against England. It also provides the 15th occasion of a West Indies wicketkeeper batsman scoring a duck in a test innings against England in England
SO Dowrich became the third West Indies wicketkeeper batsman to score a duck in a test innings against England at Manchester. Others are IM Barrow in Jul 1933 and JR Marray in Jul 1995
J Blackwood batting at number seven and SO Downright batting at number eight scored ducks in West Indies innings to provide the fourth occasion of West Indies batsmen batting at number seven and eight scoring zeroes in a test innings against England. The other three occasions are – FCM Alexander and DT Dewdney at The Oval in Aug 1957, GS Sobers and JL Hendricks at The Oval in Aug 1966 and EAE Baptiste and RA Harper in Jul 1984.
