SS Iyer of India scored 75 not out at the end of the first day of the test against New Zealand at Kanpur to provide the 47^th occasion of an Indian batsman scoring a fifty on test debut. He became the 45^th batsman to perform such a feat. Dilawar Hussain and SM Gavaskar scoring twin fifties on their test debut. All such occasions are tabulated below.
