Indian batsmen scoring a fifty on test debut
SS Iyer of India scored 75 not out at the end of the first day of the test against New Zealand at Kanpur to provide the 47th occasion of an Indian batsman scoring a fifty on test debut. He became the 45th batsman to perform such a feat. Dilawar Hussain and SM Gavaskar scoring twin fifties on their test debut. All such occasions are tabulated below.
He also became the 24th batsman to score a fifty on test debut on home soil. His feat provides the 25th occasion. Dilawar Hussain scoring twin fifties on his test debut.
