My Autobiography – Meeting the genial Anandji Dossa – Doyen of Cricket Statisticians of India – for the first time
Since that was my first ever venture outside Bengaluru, I had requested Sri Anandji Dossa to host me during the match. He had expressed his inability to host me. I had made an alternative arrangement for my stay in Bombay at Dadar. Sri Narayana Rao, a hotelier, was my uncle’s friend who lived in Dadar hosted me during my stay in Bombay
Anandji Dossa, came to the station to receive me and put me on to the local train from VT to Dadar. It was so nice of this genial gentleman.
It was during this visit I met one of the cricket’s most diehard fans, a Bombay School boy Cricketer, a gentleman to the core – Sri Kishore Udeshi, an officer with Dena Bank. We are still friends today and seek his advice and blessings on various occasions. Kishore Udeshi retired as Deputy General Manager of Dena Bank and even today we are in touch through telephone calls and Whatsapp
During the Subcommittee meeting of the statisticians, various decisions were taken. One such decision was that the accurate score cards were not sent to the Board and hence the members of the subcommittee along with the respective Secretaries of the Association should ensure the correct score cards being sent to the Board. I was assigned the duty of preparing the score cards of matches played by Mysore State Cricket Association. Anandji took so much of pain in correcting the mistakes that I had made in preparing the big Score sheet. I corrected the mistakes pointed out by him which made me a perfect scorer. I owe a lot to him in shaping my career.
