Rawalpindi Test between Pakistan and England witnesses two more world records

Rawalpindi witnessed the world record of rival team’s both the openers scoring centuries in the first and second innings of the test.. Add to this one more oddity of both teams having openers of left hand and right hand pair. This oddity was informed to me by my brother in law Gopalaswamy Venkatesh who is an avid cricket fan and also a hard critic of my postings on my portal. England openers – Z Crawley bats right-handed while BM Duckett bats left handed. Pakistan openers – Abdullah Shafique bats right handed and Imam-ul-Haq bats left handed.

Z Crawley and BM Duckett scored 122 and 107 respectively for England against Pakistan in the ongoing test at Rawalpindi to provide the 79th occasion of both the openers scoring centuries in a test innings. Pakistan openers Abdullah Shafique {114} and Imam-ul-Haq {121} also scored centuries in this test to provide the 80th occasion of both the openers scoring centuries in a test innings. The feats by England and Pakistan openers are tabulated below

England’s openers feat came in the first innings of the test, while Pakistan openers’ feat came in the second innings of the test
