IPL has 16 editions and the ensuing edition will be the 17th edition. A peep into the previous sixteen editions will unfold the following interesting statistical nuggets/feats.  Please peruse them in Part Two

As many as 22 batsmen have completed 3000 plus runs in the tournament. V Kohli of Bangalore has scored most runs – 7263 runs – most runs in the tournament. He is the only batsman in the tournament to score 7000 plus runs in the tournament.

As many 15 Indian batsmen have completed 3000 plus runs in the tournament. V Kohli has scored most runs – 7263 runs – most runs in the tournament and owns the record for most runs by an Indian batsman.

As many as seven overseas batsmen have completed 3000 plus runs in the tournament DA Warner has scored most runs – 6397 runs – most runs in the tournament by an overseas batsman in the tournament.

There are 86 centuries scored in the tournament. Four batsmen have scored exact 100 runs and ten batsmen have scored 100 not out in the tournament.

As many as 41 centuries have been scored by Indian batsman and 45 centuries by overseas batsmen

The tournament has witnessed two occasions of rival batsmen scoring centuries and one occasion of rival opening batsman scoring centuries in the tournament

JC Buttler {05}, CH Gayle {06} and V Kohli {07} are the three batsmen to score five or more centuries in the tournament. V Kohli with seven centuries to his credit owns the record for most centuries in the tournament.

CH Gayle’s 175 not out representing Bangalore against Pune at Bangalore on 23.04.13 represent the highest individual score by a batsman in the tournament.

KL Rahul’s 132 not out representing Punjab against Bangalore at Dub-DSC on 24.09.20 represent the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in the tournament, while CH Gayle’s 175 not out representing Bangalore against Pune at Bangalore on 23.04.13 represent the highest individual score by an overseas batsman in the tournament.

Bangalore batsmen with 17 centuries own the record for most centuries by a team in the tournament.  Bangalore {17},  Delhi {10}, Punjab {14} and Rajasthan {13} are the four teams that have scored ten or more centuries in the tournament.

V Kohli and JC Buttler are the two batsmen to score four centuries in a single edition of the tournament. V Kohli achieved the feat in the 2016 edition, while JC Buttler achieved the feat in 2022 edition.

There are 48 occasions of batsmen scoring centuries containing ten or more boundary fours in the tournament.

There are 20 occasions of overseas batsmen scoring centuries containing ten or more boundary fours in the tournament. There are 28 occasions of Indian batsmen scoring centuries containing ten or more boundary fours in the tournament.

PC Valthaty and AB de Villiers with 19 boundary fours in their century knocks share the record for most boundary fours scored by batsmen while scoring a century in the tournament.
