Chepauk hosted its 35th test when the first between India and Bangladesh began today Chepauk will share the second place with Arun Jaitely Stadium, Delhi for most tests played in India. Both these grounds will be hosting 35 tests. Eden Gardens, Kolkata with 42 tests occupies the first place

This test would be the 580th test for India, while Bangladesh would be playing its 145th test. India would be playing its 290th test at home and Bangladesh would be playing its 68th test on away soil

India and Bangladesh have played three tests on Indian soil and Chennai Test would be the fourth test between the two teams on Indian soil. India and Bangladesh have played thirteen tests overall and the ensuing Chennai Test would be the fourteenth test between the two teams

Chennai as a city has hosted 44 tests – 35 tests at Chepauk and nine tests at Nehru Stadium.  Chennai as a city hold the record for hosting most tests in India.  Kolkata is the other City to host 42 tests. The on-going test between India and Bangladesh will be the 44th test at Chennai

India lost the toss and inserted by the opposition to provide the 116th occasion of India being inserted by the opposition in a test.  It also provides the 17th occasion of India being inserted by the opposition in a test on home soil. It also provides the third   occasion of India being inserted by the opposition in a test at Chepauk

India lost the toss and inserted by Bangladesh to provide the fourth occasion of India being inserted by the opposition in a test. It also provides the first occasion of India being inserted by Bangladesh in a test on home soil and the first such occasion at Chepauk

It also provides the 470th occasion of an Indian batsman dismissed for zero in a test innings on home soil.
