If he gets it, he would become the second bowler in the annals of test cricket to capture 300 plus wickets in winning tests on home soil. Muralitharan has captured 305 wickets in winning tests on home soil.

R Ashwin’s six wickets fetched him 73 wickets in the fourth innings of a test on home soil. He became the fourth bowler in the annals of test cricket to capture 70 plus wickets in the fourth innings of a test on home soil. Others are – SK Warne {77}, HMRKB Herath {72} and NM Lyon {70}

R Ashwin now occupies the second place in the list of bowlers who have captured most wickets on home soil in the fourth innings of a test with 73 wickets to his credit. SK Warne with 77 wickets occupies the first place. R Ashwin went past HMRKB Herath who had 72 wickets to occupy the second place.

R Ashwin’s six wickets in the fourth innings of this test fetched 99 wickets. He owns the Indian record for most wickets in the fourth innings of the test. He went past A Kumble who has 94 wickets to his credit in the fourth innings of a test.

Najmal Hossain Shanto scored 82 in this test which went in vain to provide the 228th occasion of a Bangladesh batsman’s fifty in a test innings in a losing cause. It also provides the 27th occasion of a Bangladeh batsman’s fifty in a test innings in a losing cause against India.
