Asif Afridi of Pakistan rewrites a 92 years 02 months and 08 days old record
Asif Afridi of Pakistan wrote himself into the record books as the oldest cricketer in the world to capture five or more wickets in an innings on test debut. He was 38 years 299 days old when he captured six wickets conceding 79 runs in the just concluded test against South Africa at Rawalpindi. The previous record was credited to CS Marriot of England who had captured six wickets conceding 59 runs against West Indies at The Oval. This test had a start date of 12 Aug 1933. CS Marriot was 37 years 332 days old when he captured six for 59 in a test innings on debut. Thus Asif Afridi rewrote the record of CS Marriot after 92 years 02 months and 08 days.
