New Zealand openers create a World record

New Zealand openers TW Latham and DP Convey created a World record by scoring centuries in both innings of a test. TW Latham scored 137 and DP Convey scored 202 in the first innings and TW Latham scored 101 and DP Convey scored 100 in the second innings of the test against West Indies at Mount Maunganui to post a world record.

It is also for the first time in the annals of test cricket the same openers scoring centuries in the first and second innings of a test constituting another world record

TW Latham and DP Convey’s second innings feat provides the 100th occasion of two batsmen scoring centuries in both innings of a test – not necessarily openers

The pair missed another world record of posting 200 plus runs partnerships for the first wicket in both innings of the test. In the first innings the pair posted 323 runs for the first wicket and in the second they added 192 runs for the first wicket
