Another World Record unearthed
While analysing the statistical highlights of the just concluded Sri Lanka and India test at Col-SSC, I stumbled across a world record which reads thus ;
DC Jurel of India {115 not out} and GS Dinusha of Sri Lanka {103} scored centuries in the first and second innings of this test test to provide the seventh occasion of rival batsmen batting at number seven scoring centuries in the the first and seconf innings of a test in the annals of test cricket. It also provides the second such occasion in India-Sri Lanka test series, the first such occasion being witnessed at Ahmedabad in Nov 2009. MS Dhoni of India {110} and Prasanna Jayawardene {154 not out} of Sri Lanka came up with centuries in the first and second innings of this test, both the rival batsmen batted at number seven in this test. It also provides the only occasion of rival wicket keeper batsmen scoring centuries in the first and second innings of a test while batting at number seven.
