One thousand plus runs in six or more calendar years : RT Ponting's feat

RT Ponting completed 1000 runs in the calendar year 2009 when he was on 69 during his knock of 74 in the first one day game between India and Australia at Vadodara on 25.10.09. At the end of the game he had an aggregate of 1005.

With the aggregate of 1005 runs in 2009, RT Ponting has aggregate 1000 plus runs in six calendar years – in 1998, 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009.

RT Ponting became the first Australian batsman and third batsman in the history of one day games to aggregate 1000 plus runs in six or more calendar years. The other two are SR Tendulkar {seven} and SC Ganguly {six}. SR Tendulkar’s 1000 plus runs in seven calendar years remains the world record for a batsman aggregating 1000 plus runs in most calendar years in the history of one day games.
