Virender Sehwag with his 284 not at the end of the second day’s play in the third test against Sri Lanka at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai registered his 12^th score of 150 plus runs as an opening batsman and with it the record of most 150 plus runs scored by an opening batsman in the annals of test cricket. He wrested the record from Sunil Gavaskar who had eleven scores of 150 plus runs in tests. The following table shows the performance of these two batsmen.
