As far Sri Lanka is concerned, it is the sixth occasion of its four bowlers conceding 100 plus runs in a test innings against various oppositions including the one at Mumbai-BS. It is the third such feat by Sri Lankan bowlers against India. The other two were at Kanpur in Dec 86 and Nov 09

The aggregate runs of 671 runs conceded by four bowlers at Mumbai-BS against India remains the highest run aggregate by Sri Lankan bowlers. The previous best was 561 runs against India at Kanpur in Nov 09, the second test of the ongoing series.

KC Sangakkara’s 133 not out is his 20th century while batting number three. He became the fourth batsman in the annals of test cricket to score 20 plus centuries while batting at number three. Others are RT Ponting {31}, R Dravid {22}, DG Bradman {20},

Sangakkara’s 133 not out provide the 29th occasion of a Sri Lankan captain registering a hundred in a test innings and it represents the fourth hundred by a Sri Lankan captain against India. The other three are – 124 by LRD Mendis at Kandy in Sep 85, 111 by ST Jayasuriya at Galle in Aug 01 and 136 by DPMD Jayawardene at Col-SSC in Jul 08

KC Sangakkara with his 133 not out became the first Sri Lankan captain to score a hundred on Indian soil.

KC Sangakkara’s 133 not out represent the 35th hundred by a Sri Lankan batsman against India and ninth hundred by a Sri Lankan batsman against India on Indian soil.

KC Sangakkara’s 133 not out represent the 175th hundred by an overseas batsman against India on Indian soil.

Harbhajan Singh and PP Ojha opened the bowling in Sri Lanka’s second innings providing the 93rd occasion of spinners opening the bowling for India in a test innings.

MS Dhoni completed 100 catches behind the wicket when he caught AD Mathews for 5 of Zaheer Khan in Sri Lanka’s second innings.

MS Dhoni became the 30th wicket keeper to pouch 100 plus catches and the third Indian wicket keeper to achieve the feat after SMH Kirmani {160} and KS More {110}

KC Sangakkara competed 1000 runs in the calendar year 2009 when he was on 54 during his innings of 133 not out at the end of the fourth day’s play. At the end of the fourth day, his aggregate stood at 1079. He became the fifth batsman to aggregate 1000 plus runs in 2009. Others are TT Samaraweera {1234}.
