KD Karthik’s dubious distinction – owns the record for most fifties in a losing cause by a wicket keeper batsman in the Indian Premier League

KD Karthik of Gujarat score 58 not out against Punjab at Rajkot on 23.04.17.  This effort was in a losing cause as Gujarat lost the game by 26 runs. This provides the 45th occasion of a wicket keeper’s fifty going in vain in the history of Indian Premier League

 

This effort provides the sixth occasion of KD Karthik’s fifty going in vain in the Indian Premier League. He now holds the record for most fifties in a losing cause by a wicket keeper batsman in the tournament.  He went past AC Gilchrist and RV Uthappa who have witnessed five fifties in a losing cause in the tournament.
