Younus Khan registered his second consecutive fifty as captain – when he made 76 in this game. In the fourth one day game of this series he had scored 89. His 76 in this game was his second fifty as captain and his 43rd fifty as batsman.

Misbah ul Huq scored 73 not out in this game which is ninth one day fifty. His knock represents the 30th occasion of a Pakistan batsman scoring an unbeaten half century against Sri Lanka in one day games.

Naved-ul-Hassan returned with figures of 4-44 in this game providing the 23rd occasion of a bowler returning with figures 4-44 in the history of one day internationals. He is the third Pakistan bowler to return with figures of 4-44 in an one day game. The other two are – Sarfraz Nawaz against West Indies at Birmingham on 11.06.75 and Mohammad Sami against West Indies at Sharjah on 15.02.02. Sarfraz Nawaz has to his credit of becoming the first bower to return with figures of 4-44 in the history of one day internationals and more so his feat came in the Prudential World Cup matches of 1975.

Naved-ul-Hassan became the third bowler to return with figures of 4-44 against Sri Lanka. The other two bowlers are – DR Doshi of India {4-44 at Amritsar on 12.09.82} and HH Streak of Zimbabwe {4-44 at Harare on 05.11.94}.

Naved-ul-Hassan became the second bowler after UDU Chandana to return with figures of 4-44 on Sri Lankan soil. UDU Chandana returned with figures of 4-44 against South Africa at Galle on 06.07.00.

Mohammad Aamer and Naved-ul-Hassan returned with figures of 4-28 and 4 for 44 respectively in this game providing the 39th occasion of two bowlers from the same team capturing four or more wickets in the history of one day internationals.

This feat by these two bowlers provide the second such occasion against Sri Lanka, the first being at Nairobi{Gym} on 04.10.96 when Waqar Younis {5-52} and Saqlain Mushtaq {4-33} captured four or more wickets.

The other three occasions were witnessed at – Col-RPS on 24.08.94 {Saeed Anwar and ST Jayasuriya} and at Galle on 05.07.00 {Imran Nazir and DA Gunawardene}

Sri Lanka won its home series against Pakistan for the first time. They won this series 3-2. This series was the fourth bilateral series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Sri Lanka. Pakistan had won the earlier three series – 1985-86 {2-0}, 1994 {4-1} and 2005-06 {2-0}.
