SM Katich, the Australian opening batsman joined the select band of batsmen who have scored a hundred in their 50th test. He scored 106 in the second innings of the Hamilton test between Australia and New Zealand on the third day. He was playing his 50th test

He became the 30th batsman in the annals of test cricket to achieve this distinction. He is the fifth Australian batsman, after RB Simpson., WM Lawry, MA Taylor and MJ Clarke to earn the distinction.

SK Raina of Chennai became the second batsman in Indian Premier League to aggregate 1000 runs after AC Gilchrist of Hyderabad.

He reached the milestone during his innings of 83 not out against Mumbai at Mumbai-BS on 25.03.10. Prior to the start of this match, he had an aggregate of 952 runs and completed 1000 runs when he was on 48 during his knock of 83 not out. At the end of this game his aggregate stood at 1035. He added 14 more runs to this total to take the aggregate to 1049 in the next match against Jaipur at Ahmedabad on 28.03.10.

AC Gilchrist’s 1081 hsve come from 36 matches, 36 innings of which one is not out., has an highest score of 109 not out and an average of 30.88 runs per innings, has scored one hundred and seven half centuries, has failed to open the account on three occasions, has hit 120 boundary fours and 57 boundary sixes

SR Tendulkar scored his fourth half century in the third edition of IPL when he scored 55 in the game between Mumbai and Hyderabad at Mum-DYP on 28.03.10. The other three half centuries are – 63* vs Delhi at Delhi on 17.03.10, 71* vs Kolkata at Mumbai-BS on 22.03.10 and 72 vs Chennai at Mumbai-BS on 25.03.10

SR Tendulkar;s four half centuries in 2010 edition is the record for most half centuries scored by a captain in a single edtion of IPL. Other who have scored three half centuries in single edition are – AC Gilchrist in 2008 and 2009, V Sehwag in 2008, SC Ganguly in 2008

JA Morkel achieved the distinction of becoming the first cricketer to play 100 Twenty20 games when he appeared for Chennai Super Kings against Rajasthan Royals at Ahmedabad in the third edition of the ongoing Indian Premier League

Prior to the start of the IPL he had appeared in 93 Twenty20 games. He was playing the seventh match of the third edition of IPL today which was his 100th Twenty20 appearance.

When he played the third match for Chennai Supet Kings against Delhi at Delhi on 13.03.10 in thee ongoing IPL he surpassed the record of most appearances in Twenty20 games held by DJ Hussey who had played 95 games. This game was the r96th Twenty20 game for JA Morkel, He could not celebrate this game as much as he wanted. He failed with the willow by scoring duck and with the leather he could not pick any wicket but conceded 36 runs in the three overs he bowled

JA Morkel in his sojourn of 100 Twenty20 games has represented Titans, South Africa, Durham and Chennai Super Kings

When DJ Hussey caught MS Bisla of the bowling of A Agarkar for 22 in the IPL game between Mohali and Kolkata at Mohali on 27.03.10, it was the 48th catch taken by DJ Hussey in Twenty20 games

With this catch, DJ Hussey shares the record for most catches by a fieldsman in Twnety20 games with M van Jaarsveld who also has taken 48 catches

DJ Hussey represented Australia, Australia A, Kolkata Knight Riders, Nottinghamshire and Victoria in Twenty20 games, while M van Jaarsveld represented Kent, Nottinghamshire and Titans

DJ Hussey was playing his 96th Twenty20 game when he equaled the record held by M van Jaarsveld who had played 80 Twenty20 games.

DJ Hussey who was the most capped Twenty20 cricketer with 95 appearances prior to the start of the IPL, has the record bettered by JA Morkel during the course of third editon of IPL. JA Morkel now has 99 Twenty20 appearances as on 27.03.2010. He is set to become the first cricketer to make 100 Twenty20 appearances in the ongoing edtion of IPL
