Karnataka Premier League (KPL) is an Indian Twenty20 cricket league established by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in August, 2009. The domestic cricket competition is modeled along the lines of the popular Indian Premier League (IPL). Just like the Indian Premier League, whose title sponsor was realty major DLF, the title sponsor of the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) is Bangalore-based real estate developer, Mantri Developers. Mantri Developers won the rights to be the title sponsor of this event for a period of five years for an amount of ₹110 million

The first season was held from 9 September 2009, to 23 September 2009.[2] The second season was held from 18 September 2010, to 3 October 2010. The league is chaired by the KSCA secretary, Brijesh Patel, and includes eight franchisee teams representing cities in Karnataka. The third season was held from 28 August 2014 and the auction for the same was conducted on August 7th. The fourth season is to be held in Aug-Sep 2015 and the matches will be played at Mysore and Hubli.

The Karnataka Premier League Cup finals were held on 23 September 2009 as a 20-over match between Bangalore Provident (Rural) and Belagavi Panthers, played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Bangalore Provident (Rural) won by five wickets (with four balls remaining). The Player of the Match was Amit Verma for (Rural). The Player of the Series was J. Arunkumar of Belagavi Panthers

Bijapur Bulls lifted the coveted KPL 2015 Trophy by trouncing Hubli Tigers by seven wickets. The match became an one sided affair after Hubli Tigers posted a total of 114 for 9 in 20.0 overs. Put into bat after losing the toss, Hubli Tigers lost its wickets at regular intervals. Its previous game’s hero – Mohd Taha – departed very early at five and for a personal score of one. He was bowled by VV Kumar. VV Kumar bowled skipper KR Kapoor for 5 and the score card a dismal 15. Inform opening batsman KB Pawan and D Negi batted well to stitch a 43 run stand for the third wicket before D Negi was stumped by RV Uthappa for 21 and the score card read 58 for 3. Wicket keeper NS Bhille was dismissed run for 10 and KB Pawan left at 75. Hubli Tigers had lost its half the side when KB Pawan left. KB Pawan and Mohd Taha earned the distinction of becoming the first pair of opening batsman from the same team {Hubli Tigers} to score 300 plus runs in a single edition of KPL. They are the first opening pair to achieve this feat across the four editions of KPL.

KC Cariappa’s three wickets gave him 16 wickets in KPL 2015. He became the most wicket taker in KPL 2015. He went past Mitrakanth Yadav who had taken 14 wickets.

KC Cariappa’s 16 wickets in KPL 2015, makes him the fifth bowler to capture 15 or more wickets in an edition of KPL. Others are – DJ Johnson {17 in 2009}, J Suchith {16 in 2014}, UB Patel {16 in 2010} and K Gowthm {16 in 2010}

Batting second, Bijapur Bulls wer not troubled by Hubli Tigers bowling attack which was far from impressive.Openers R Samarth and RR Bhatkal posted 35 runs stand. It lost two more wickets quickly and the score card read 60 for 3. R Samath {27}, RR Bhatkal {6} and SN Raju {4} were the batsmen dismissed. Belagavi Panthers won the toss and inserted the opposition in this game. KB Pawan and Mohd Taha were concerned in a 54 runs opening partnership for the first wicket. This is their fifth opening stand of 50 plus runs in this edition, Mohd Taha and NS Bhille were concerned in another stand of 64 plus runs for the fourth wicket. MRKPL-M27 – Namma Shivamogga vs Mangalore United at Mysuru on 17.09.15 – Mangalore United won by three wickets

Namma Shivamogga batted first in this game after winning the toss. It could muster a none-too-comfortable total of 137 for 7. Skipper STR Binny’s 44 was the main contribtion to Namma Shivamogga’s total. RG More, SK Moinuddin and BN Bharath shared the spoils with two wickets apiece. S Gopal {24} was the other batsman to score 20 plus runs

Mangalore United romped home by three wickets. STR Biiny led his team astutely and made the opponents task difficult a bit difficult. He picked up two wickets and held an acrobatic catch to dismiss opener RP Kadam.

MRKPL-M28 – Mysuru Warriors vs Rockstars at Mysuru on 17.09.15 – Mysuru Warriors won by 75 runs

Riding on an opening stand of 110 runs between Arjun Hoysala and skipper CM Gautham, Mysore Warriors posted a total of 175 for 5 in 20.0 overs. Arjun Hoysala made 73 while CM Gautham scored 42 before he was run out. Nikin Jose who made his debut for Mysuru Warriors made a quickfire 25 in 18 deliveries. Madan Mohan was the pick of the bowlers with a bag of 3 for 21.

Nikin Jose shone with the leather also to return with figure of 6 for 11. His figure represent the best bowling figures in KPL. None of the Rockstars batsmen had a clue to this young lad’s bowling and he virtually toyed with them. Rockstars folded for an exact 100, while Nikin Jose’s figures read an impressive 3.2-0-11-6. Introduced into the attack in the eleventh over, he played havoc to dismiss Rockstats in 16.2 overs. He was born on 21.08.2000 and has completed 15 years just last month

MRKPL-M29-Eliminator – Hubli Tigers vs Mangalore United at Mysuru on 18.09.15 – Hubli Tigers won by nine wickets

Eliminator became an one sided affair as Mangalore United were dismissed for a paltry 101. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, none of the Mangalore United batsmen fared well, thus reducing the contest to become one sided affair. Wickets fell at regular intervals, while D Nagi {3 for 13}, S Kaushik {2 for 25} and K Kamath {2 for 13} made merry. KB Pawan took three catches and the fielding of Hubli Tigers was tidy.

Chasing the modest total, Hubli Tigers romped home by nine wickets. KB Pawan and Mohd Taha ensured that there were no hick ups during the chase and posted their fourth opening stand of 71 before KB Pawan was dismissed run out for 27. This game also turned out to be an one sided contest. Put into bat, Belagavi Panthers posted a none-too-comfortable total of 118 for 8 in 20.0 overs. KP Appanna and KC Cariappa were the wreckers-in-chief. Both the bowlers captured three wickets each. KC Cariappa had a tally of 13 wickets in KPL 2015 as at the end of this game. AM Reddy top scored in Belagavi Panther’s innings with 27.
