SL Malinga’s 4 for 23 against Bangladesh at Dubai-DSC on 15.09.18 was in a losing cause and represents the sixth occasion of Malinga witnessing his four-wicket haul in a one day game going in vain. He now shares the record for most four-wicket hauls in losing cause in the history of one-day internationals with Saqlain Mushtaq of Pakistan. His feat also provides the 13th occasion of an England batsman accomplishing such a feat. It also provides the 15th occasion of a batsman accomplishing such a feat against  India in one day games. JE Root became the first England batsman scoring two centuries in a bilateral series against India.

JE Root of England scored two centuries in this series – 113 at Lord’s and 100 not out at Leeds to provide the third occasion of his scoring two centuries in a bilateral series. The other two occasions are – against New Zealand in England 2015 and against South Africa in South Africa. He now holds the England record for most occasions of achieving such a feat.
